The Clean and Safe charter means that owners will:

  1. Follow government cleaning advice for non-healthcare environments
In all spaces high touch, hard surfaces will be cleaned twice and disinfected and all linen will be washed at the hottest water setting before a guest’s arrival. Check-in times may be delayed to allow increased time for cleaning between stays, at all times following government guidelines for the UK and Ireland.
  2. Enable self-check in where possible and practise social distancing during stays
All group spaces or shared facilities will be set up so that guests can socially distance easily.
  3. Have measures in place to allow guests to practise good hygiene throughout their stay
All places will amply stock the necessary disinfectant, cleaning supplies, hand sanitisers and soap. Where possible, other measures to reduce risk will be taken. For example, guest information booklets or menus removed and the information given digitally instead.

“Beautiful cosy cottage in the perfect location, perfect for birdwatching and coastal walking. The cottage has everything we needed to make a wonderful stay. Highly recommend and will return soon.”  – Louise H

“We have stayed at this cottage numerous times with our dog. Important factors for us is that the bed is large and comfortable, there is a fireplace and that the accommodation is clean and in a convenient location to the coastal walks. Coastguard Cottage meets this criteria on all counts.”  – Candice S

“No 8 Coastguards is beautifully situated and appointed. The equipment in the cottage is comprehensive and the furnishings are smart, comfortable and stylish while preserving the essential character of a coastguard cottage. It is an ideal home for a family day and makes for the perfect base for a relaxing holiday. I shall certainly return.”  – Richard T

“A wonderfully appointed cottage in a fabulous location… the fully equipped property was absolutely delightful and everything, including the furniture, bed linen and towels etc, was clearly carefully chosen – and of the highest quality. We just loved it. The location is fantastic, in a quiet and private road, just a five minute walk from the beautiful beach, with lovely views en route on each side of the path. The village is within easy walking distance and there’s a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating along the way, which also sells ice-creams. A perfect holiday in a perfect place.”  – Jane V W

“Simply wonderful. Very comfortable and highly recommended.”  – Fiona W

“There is nothing to dislike about this utterly delightful and beautifully decorated cottage. It is surprisingly spacious and the ideal getaway for a family or friends. The garden and patio are big enough to enjoy eating and sitting outside but you are so close to the beach and other walking areas that you will spend plenty of time wandering around and enjoying the local area.”  – Fiona S

“We had the most wonderful time staying at the cottage, it had everything we needed. With the most perfect location being a few minutes walk away from the beech. We would definitely stay here again!”  – Cecelia B

“Perfect cottage – Amazing location… Happy Days. We’ll be back…”  – Nicki F

“Lovely cottage, a haven for watching neighbouring Brent geese and other waders, great location. Thank you.”  – Caroline C

“Our second, in what I think might become an annual trip to this beautiful wee cottage. The weather not so kind this year but returning to working fires after bracing walks was bliss! March 2020”  – Lisa C

“Our wonderful host responded to texts immediately and did everything to make our stay perfect. The cottage is idyllic and in prime location. It is utterly charming but cosy and comfortable too with all details thought of. It was exactly as described and the visitor notes provided were comprehensive and v easy to follow. The cottage is clearly a much loved home which has been painstakingly renovated and this comes across the moment you arrive. We can’t wait to return. “ – R Jago

“The cottage was beautifully presented and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is absolutely fabulous. Such a treat to walk out of the gate and immediately experience such a beautiful natural environment. The coastal walks in all directions were stunning. Other than walking and throwing stones in to the sea, crabbing, bike trips into East Wittering and a few cafe/pubs stops were topped off by games around the table in the evening. Perfect. “ – C Cox

“This is a great cottage – very atmospheric and charming but also with 3 good bedrooms and a very nice open plan living space downstairs. It’s around ten minutes walk, either down a footpath or along roads to West Wittering beach which is a lovely sandy beach that has Blue Flag status. Its also well-placed for walks around the spits and National Trust land that is next to the beach. We had a great time with the kids loving the beach in particular. East Wittering, which has more shops, is either a longer walk or drive away. The cottage is very tastefully done out with all the bits and bobs you’d expect. Whilst there’s no back garden there’s a very pleasant front garden with a table for having meals from or using as an activity table for the kids. Various beach accessories are thoughtfully provided and we made good use of the body boards, spades and buckets. Added bonus (for me at least) was the selection of cricket books sprinkled though the bookshelves. Who can argue with reading Cardus before watching the Perseid meteor shower with the kids tucked up in bed (unless of course you don’t like early twentieth century cricket writers that is)? “ – NR

“Wish we could have stayed all summer…The cottage is perfectly positioned in the prettier, quiet part of West Wittering. The village centre is a quick bike ride/10 minute walk away where we found Tessier’s (great butcher with lots of added extras such as pasta/curry sauces, farm eggs, milk, bread, scones etc). The crabbing pool is moments away, which was a real hit with our daughters (ages 8 and 10) and the paths leading to the beach or towards Itchenor (and the two tyre swings!) are literally at the end of the lane. The cottage itself is well equipped and presented to a good standard with a charming, lavender filled garden. The two adult bikes were a real bonus too. We would have loved to stay for longer and will definitely be back. “ – RP

“We spent a magical week in this cottage helped by brilliant weather. It is a gem. Perfectly located for the beach, East Head and West Wittering Creek. The cottage is gorgeous, full of charm, beautifully decorated and equipped and masses of room for two adults and four children. It’s an easy walk or bike to the local shops and the children loved the freedom of roaming around on their bikes. My son biked into Itchenor to sail with his friends and my daughter put her pony into the West Wittering riding school and galloped on the beach. Lovely sunny garden equipped with barbecue, bikes and everything you could need. We have already re-booked for 2017. “ – E Bray

“My family and I had a wonderful stay in the cottage this Easter. The location can’t be bettered and the cottage was perfect, cosy with everything we could have wanted. After a day on the beach it was brilliant to walk back to a welcoming cottage with an open fire. Looking forward to our next stay. “ – B Jones
